ELDER's DAY
The Special Day for Elders, October 01. On this World Elders' Day we at our Idhaya Vaasal Elder's Home organised some events to celebrate the happy moments with our inmates.

Dear friends,
There have been many visitors/volunteers for last two months and all were heard about our honest services to the elders and that made them turn towards us.
And people who were seeking addmission here also told us, our elder's home is one of the best in Chennai in taking care of elders' with good care and they can see a homely atmosphere here.
Many dear and near peoples are suggesting to admit only the elders' who are affordable to pay our minimum requested monthly fee. But we cannot avoid admitting the orphaned, poor sector elders when approached us for shelter. Though we financially suffer to run this Home smoothly, we do not wish to run this Home like a lodge or paying guest system.
Our prime motto behind this Home is providing peace in the mind of elders who are spending their last phase of life here. All other worries for providing comfortable life to elders' should revolve only around the management.
We have both paid and unpaid inmates with us; most of them are bed ridden; average age of inmates is 75.
Only shared rooms are available, but food, health, clean environments are maintained with hygiene. People who have visited other Homes say that ours is the minimum charged Home providing A/C and tailor made diet food to the inmates based on their health conditions.
It is written here just to share the proudest moments with happiness that our team feel whenever we hear such appreciations. These encourages us to serve them better without any monotonic mind.

'Idhaya Vaasal' Elders' Home
In the modern world percentage of aged people keeps on increasing due to advancement in health science. An estimated 8% of the Indian population at present are senior citizens – above 60 years of age. By 2025, the expected percentage of senior citizens is around 18% and by 2050, the projection is one-third.
These days, very few elders are blessed to live happily in the midst of their children and grand children. Further, the inability to have spacious houses in urban areas have slowly transformed the younger generation to look upon the elderly as a burden. Most of the elders have lost the respect and being subjected to mental abuses are reported frequently.
Developed countries have good social security schemes and run a network of homes of different categories for the senior citizens. Though India formulated a national policy on old people and a plan of action in 1999, it is anybody’s guess on its implementation. Naturally, Homes for the aged are fast becoming a reality now. Individuals, individual organisations and Trusts like our Aarathy with a feel of social commitment are presently engaging themselves in establishing such Homes.
Parthasarathy had been helping several Homes for Aged around this Velachery, Chennai area and dreamt about having his own Home for Senior Citizens especiall who are bed ridden, where extra care is required. At anaffordable costs by their blood relations/ other relatives the elders live here with peace in mind. Monthly fee is fixed just to sustain the day today care for the Home.
Destituted and deprived men and women are also taken care by the Home. To take care of these category people we seek sponsors/donations from kind peoples and organisations.

புத்தம்புது மனிதர்கள் !
மனிதநேயம் நிறைந்த
புனிதம்சேர் புதுஉலகு ! – இது
இதயவாசலுக்குள் ஒரு சொர்க்கலோகம் !
வாழ்த்த வேண்டி வாய்க்கு வந்த
வாழ்த்துப்பா அல்ல – இது மறுக்கப்பட்ட
எங்களின் இரண்டாம் வாழ்வுப்பா !
என் கதை
என்கதைக்கு முன்னால் ஒரு
விடுகதை கேளுங்கள் – ‘அந்த
பழைய வீட்டில் பத்து சொந்தம்
புதிய வீட்டில் நூறு சொந்தம்’
பதில் தெரியுமா? – அதுதான் என்
சொந்தக்கதை - இல்லத்திற்கு
நொந்து வந்து சேர்ந்த கதை !
சிந்தை மகிழ வாழும் கதை !
சிறுமை அளித்த சிந்தனைகளால்
வெறுமைகளில் கருப்பு கனவுகள் அன்று !
சிறு வண்ண கனவும் நனவாகிறது இன்று !
படுக்கையிலே வீழ்ந்து விட்டால்
பாசம் மாய்ந்து போனதோ ?
இரு தலைமுறையை வளர்த்த எமக்கு
இருப்பு எங்கோர் வீட்டிலோ ?
இனித்துக்கசந்த குழந்தைகளே
இளமை முதுமை பொதுவானது !
எமக்கு கொள்ளிவைத்தபின்
உமக்கு இந்த இல்லத்தில்
